Hello!
I am Abhiraj, a Waterloo-based journalist, originally from Chandigarh, India. A storyteller at heart, I have extensive reporting and editing experience. I'm well-versed with Canadian Press standards and am skilled in broad content creation. I am fluent in English and Hindi and have a working knowledge of Punjabi.
I'm a freelance reporter and culture writer who writes primarily about film, TV, music, comedy and everything pop culture. I have also written about a wide range of topics including crime, politics, mental health and more.
Previously I was a reporter at the Waterloo Region Record and breaking news reporter out of the Toronto Star Radio Room. I got my start at Imprint, the University of Waterloo’s official student newspaper where I have worked as board assistant, staff writer, Arts & Life Editor and Managing Editor. Additionally, I am a proud Shared Bylines alum.
A huge pop culture fanatic, I am always down to talk about my Oscars hot takes, Taylor Swift, favourite Film Twitter discourse, or why Nancy Meyers is the greatest auteur of all time.
